Draft for review · 13 October 2026
Terms & Conditions
A year of looking, with clear expectations about your membership and your family tree.
1. Who provides Loom
Loom Ancestry is the trading name of the company identified below. These details must be completed before memberships are offered under these terms.
- Registered company name
- [To be confirmed]
- Company number
- [To be confirmed]
- Registered office and address for legal notices
- [To be confirmed]
Contact: hello@loomancestry.com.
2. What your membership includes
One annual membership includes up to two private family trees. Upload the family tree file you already have in GEDCOM format; Loom is not a family-tree editor and does not automatically synchronise changes made on another genealogy service.
At launch, Loom checks supported family-tree information against the official England & Wales Bona Vacantia unclaimed-estates list. Scotland, Queensland and other jurisdictions are not included in launch monitoring. Educational articles about other places do not mean those places are monitored.
Loom checks published list changes and looks for potential connections. Potential matches go through appropriate review before customer notification. No result is guaranteed, and official records can be incomplete, corrected or removed.
A potential connection is not proof of relationship, inheritance or legal entitlement. Loom does not give legal advice, decide entitlement, submit claims or act as your estate-claim representative.
3. Price and annual renewal
The standard annual membership price is £19.99, charged in GBP. Any applicable discount and the total payable will be shown before payment.
Membership automatically renews each year unless auto-renewal is switched off before the renewal payment. Your account shows your renewal or paid-through date. Membership access begins once payment has been confirmed.
Switch off auto-renewal using “Stop renewing” in your account. This stops future renewal without ending access for the period already paid for. For help, email Loom.
4. Cancellation and refunds
You can request a full refund within 14 days of an initial purchase or an annual renewal. This is Loom’s voluntary policy and applies even if you have uploaded a tree or monitoring has begun. It does not restrict your statutory rights.
Switching off auto-renewal and requesting a refund are separate actions. A full refund ends access for the refunded membership. Read Cancellation & Refunds for how to request a refund and the distinction between our policy and statutory cancellation rights.
5. Your account and family-tree information
Keep your sign-in details secure and provide information you are entitled to share. Do not upload information unlawfully, use Loom to access another customer’s data, or misuse the service.
Keep your tree up to date in the service where you build it, then upload a replacement family tree file to Loom. Replacement files are checked before becoming the active tree. Upload allowances apply and are shown in the application; one membership cannot hold more than two family trees.
Your trees are not made public or searchable by other customers. Living relatives and people whose living status is unknown receive the same privacy protections. Our draft Privacy Notice explains the proposed data disclosures.
6. Service issues and your rights
Official-source availability and technical interruptions can affect checks. If something is wrong with your membership or the service, contact Loom so the issue can be investigated.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or removes consumer rights relating to services supplied without reasonable care and skill.
7. Support and complaints
Email hello@loomancestry.com with the email address on your account and a description of the problem. Do not send your password or a complete family tree by email.
See Contact & Support. Support hours, response targets and any applicable alternative dispute-resolution arrangements must be confirmed before publication.
8. Renewal notices and final approval
These terms have no effective date until the final wording and business details are approved for publication.
