Unclaimed estates

There are hundreds
of unclaimed estates.
Could your family tree
connect you to one?

Upload the family tree you already have. Loom checks it against official unclaimed-estate lists, filters out the nonsense, and alerts you when a potential connection is worth your attention.

From family tree to ongoing watch

How does Loom work?

No rebuilding required.

01Bring your family tree

Download your family tree file — technically called a GEDCOM — from the service you already use, then upload it to Loom. No rebuilding from scratch.

Changes to your family tree? Loom can change with it.

Discovered new relatives? Update your tree where you normally build it, then download a fresh family tree file (GEDCOM) and bring it back to Loom.

02Loom learns who’s connected

Loom reads the people, relationships and branches across your family network.

03Loom checks official records

Your family network is checked against the supported official records Loom monitors.

04Meanwhile, your family data stays private

Private by default, with living relatives protected and access appropriately limited. Your family data is never sold, and you retain export and deletion controls.

05We keep you in the loop

A quarterly update shows what Loom has been doing, so you can see monitoring continues even if no potential match has been found yet.

06When we find a potential match…

That’s when Loom follows the thread.
We don’t alert you every time a Tom, Dick or Harry happens to share a name with someone in your tree. Loom looks at the wider evidence, traces the connection through your family and filters out the noise.
If a potential connection is genuinely worth your attention, that’s when we tell you.

Continuous monitoring

These lists are regularly updated.

In England & Wales, for example, the Bona Vacantia list is typically updated every few days. When a new list is published, Loom checks it against your whole family tree again.

And again.And again.And again…

From records to attention

Because nobody needs 147 John Smith alerts.

Loom does the noisy bit behind the scenes. It filters out weak and irrelevant matches, so you don’t get an alert every time two names happen to look alike.

Okay. This one looks interesting.

Loom finds a potential match… then what?

We found your thread.

When a potential connection passes the appropriate matching and review process and needs your attention, Loom alerts you — you do not have to wait for the next quarterly update.

  1. See the connection

Loom shows the chain of relatives connecting your family tree to the potential match.

  2. Download your Golden Thread Pack

Bring together the relevant family branch and relationship route, official listing or source, key information and an evidence checklist.

  3. Know what to do next

Follow clear next steps for investigating the potential connection further.

A potential family-tree connection does not establish legal entitlement. Loom identifies potential connections; it does not determine inheritance or legal entitlement.

International

Is Loom just England & Wales?
